The comedy show hosted by Kapil Sharma has become so famous on small screens that it has carved out its own genre apart from the soap operas. The show has become the king of television and TRP of the show has gone outbound. Kapil Sharma and his family members including nutty Dadi, flirty bua, vexing father in law, a big mouthed wife, upfront servant and neighbour palak are now mimicked and enjoyed by people of all ages.
Kapil Sharma was the winner of the third season of ‘The great Indian Laughter Challenge’ but he gradually turned in to a celebrity post the launch of ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’. The jester cum host of the show who actually wanted to become a singer is now dating his show’s director Preeti Simoes. He has won ‘Kahani comedy Circus ki’ with his onscreen wife Sumona along with shows life ‘Comedy Circus ke Superstars’, and ’Comedy Circus ka Jadoo’.
The Nutty Dadi of Kapil has left no actor for a Kiss. But this nutty Dadi is actually actor Aliasgar who has played roles in prominent TV serials like Kahani Ghar Ghar ki, Jeanie Aur Juju, F.I.R. He was also a part of movies like ‘Tees Maar Khan’, ‘Partner’, and ‘Agneepath’. He was also offered a role in the blockbuster Kick but due to a tight schedule he had to refuse.
The set of Comedy Nights with Kapil is incomplete without the presence of Kapil’s ever young Bua. The actress Upasana Singh is still single and is ready to mingle. She is and will be always remembered for the role of deaf and dumb played in the movie ‘Judaai’ in 1997. She has also played roles like Gangu Tai in ‘My Friend Ganesha’ and Kamla Bai in ‘Ishq Vishk’. She has also played the role of Kali pari in ‘Sonpari’ and was seen recently in ‘Bani – Ishq Da Kalma’. She is married to Neeraj Bharadwaj who was her co-star in ‘Aye Dil-E-Nadaan’. She is quite famous in Rajasthan and has performed in various Bhojpuri, Punjabi and Gujarati films.
Sunil Grover is again back on ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ as Kapil’s Father in law who hates his son in law to the core. Sunil started as Guthi in the show but later left to popularize his own show ‘Mad In India’.
The Sudarshan aka sud on radio mirchi is also remembered as balu in ‘Gutur Gu’. Apart from this the actor is also seen in movies like ‘Zila Ghaziabad’, ‘Legend of Bhagat Singh’ and ‘Ghajini’.
Kapil’s onscreen wife Sumona calls him Brother offscreen. The duo are not only performing well in comedy Nights but has also won the show ‘Kahani Comedy Circus ki’ together. The actress was also seen as Jacqueline’s friend in Kick and Natasha in the serial ‘Bade Ache lagte Hain’. People know a very little about the girl who is often criticized by her on screen husband of being big lipped. She is an aspiring model and has won the title of Miss Mumbai – 2005. The award winning film ‘Barfi’ had a cameo role done by Sumona and she was a child actor in the movie ‘Mann’.
Kiku Sharda, Palak, is equally a favourite of audience as Guthi in Comedy Nights and Mulayam Singh in the show ‘F.I.R.’. After having partnered Priyanka in the dance show Nach Baliye now Kiku is collecting feathers in her cap for the lead role of Akbar in a comedy show, ‘Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal’. The actor has competed with celebrities on the reality dance show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’.
Another character which is loved by the viewers is the servant of Kapil on the set of Comedy Nights. The duo is always busy insulting each other which entertains audience. The servant is no one but Chandan Prabhakar who was Kapil’s collegue in ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’. Chandan won the runner up prize in the season 3 of the laughter challenge.
