90 Day Fiance: Three years after a long-distance relationship, Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi finally tied a wedding knot in Michael’s home country of Nigeria.
Much to the new couple’s chagrin, their honeymoon was cut short when Angela got heartbreaking news from daughter Skyla Deem. Angela’s mother, Glenda Standridge was unresponsive and had to be admitted to the ICU at the time. She sadly passed away earlier this year.
In the latest preview clip of an impending 90 Day Fiance episode, Angela, 54, is seen packing to return to Georgia after learning about the bad news about her mom. 31-year-old Michael stayed in Lagos, Nigeria, for the time being.
The newlyweds had to bid a tearful goodbye-for-now, with Angela reflecting on her decision to marry Michael. Shortly after marrying Michael in Nigeria, Angela’s daughter, Skyla informed her that her mother wasn’t doing well.
After initially failing to understand what her daughter was saying. Angela was worried that her mother had already passed. Glenda was being rushed to the ICU in an ambulance at the time. In a 90 Day Fiance preview, Angela can be seen packing and set to head back home, saying the call from her daughter had “worried her to death.”
Angela admitted that she was dealing with guilt over her decision to get married in Nigeria. Her mother reportedly had assured her that she would still be there when she got back from Nigeria, but after the devastating news, she wondered if she made the right decision.
“Maybe it’s my fault,” Angela said with eyes filling with tears. “Because I assume, in my heart, Skyla does a good job, but nobody can take care of her like me, and that’s just how I am,” she added.
The newlywed shared tearful kisses and hugs before Angela turned to board the plane. The couple was unsure about when they would be able to see each other again.
“I promise I’ll be there for you,” Michael told his wife, noting that they would work it out no matter what. “This is the hard part of leaving,” Angela explains saying this is the time she would need her husband by her side.
The 90 Day Fiance star confessed she didn’t want to leave him, because this is a bad situation, and she isn’t sure if she can go through this alone. She told TLC producers that she felt unmoored and disoriented with all the changes happening in her life at the same time.
“Married one minute,” Angela said indicating disbelief, and then possibly to have to return home for her mother’s funeral, not too long afterward. Her wedding day was the happiest day of her life, and she was taken by a shock that such joy and sadness could exist at the same time.
