A fan came up with “a Die Hard where Charlize Theron goes on a rampage to save her wife,” and the 45-year-old American-South African actress answered the call.
With Bruce Willis still in the picture, it is highly unlikely that we will get any kind of reboot or remake of Die Hard, but fans are hoping for a non-hetero, gender-swapped version of the holiday movie. One such fan did exactly that on Monday by fan-casting Charlize Theron in the lead role of such a speculative endeavor. Charlize Theron was onboard with the idea.

“Lesbian Christmas rom coms are all well and good but what I REALLY want is a Die Hard where Charlize Theron goes on a rampage to save her wife,” Twitter user Francis O tweeted, and the tweet went viral Monday. It didn’t take too long for Charlize to take notice.
Endorsing the idea, the Mad Max: Fury Road star tweeted, “Where do I sign?” While folks should not get their hopes up for such a thing, anything is possible. This possibility was sparked by the Hulu romantic comedy, Happiest Season, a lesbian rom-com referenced in the original tweet.

The Die Hard franchise, like Hulu, falls under the Disney banner because it was a Fox property. Charlize is no stranger to playing bisexual characters – for instance, in her spy thriller, Atomic Blonde, Theron is herself straight.
There have been five Die Hard films produced thus far, with A Good Day to Die Hard being the latest. While the original film earned $83 million 25 years ago, the 2013 film earned less than $67 million at the domestic box office. Watch this space for the latest celebrity news.
