Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, John Legend, and The Weeknd have all made their way into Variety’s fourth annual Variety 500 list, which alludes to an analysis of the 500 most influential business leaders making notable contributions in the global media industry.
The list focuses primarily on what individuals have done or achieved in the past year. Making it into the list requires either being responsible for one major success or a consistent string of successes. Aside from that, it requires a well-established ability to innovate, major significant moves, and take risks.
Kelly did not make the list because of her music career, but for the success of her show, The Kelly Clarkson Show has garnered. The show, which has renewed through 2023, has won several Emmys. Another reason she’s on the list is her presence on The Voice.

Lady Gaga is on the list for giving back. She organized the One World: Together at the Home benefit, and managed to raise over a whopping $127 million COVID-19 release. Taylor, on the other hand, is on the list for releasing three acclaimed albums in 16 months.
Legend is a new entry, and he was able to make it into the list because of his production company, which has given us the Netflix series Rhythm + Flow, as well as the holiday special Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Story, among a slew of other equally-engaging content. Variety also credits him for his other endeavors including his job on The Voice, his endorsements, and social activism.
Rihanna’s presence on the list can be attributed to her COVID-19 efforts, and speaking out about racial injustice. Moreover, she made the list for the success of her fashion and beauty empires. The Weekend’s there for the worldwide success of his album After Hours, while Jennifer Lopez’s various TV projects, movies, Super Bowl halftime show, and World of Dance duties helped her grab a spot on the list.
Beyoncé‘s on the list because of her massive influence on film, TV, fashion, music, and even charity. Stay tuned to WittyScoop for the latest celebrity news.
