Jagame Thanthiram is slated to release on Netflix, and while details about the film’s OTT release are still scarce, its hotly anticipated teaser has been released.
On Monday, the teaser of Jagame Thanthiram was released. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the dark comedy revolves around an Indian gangster, who gives American mafia bosses a run for their money.
The teaser opens with a question, “Who is this guy Surali?” He was later revealed to be a man who wears several hats. The village sweetheart is an expert country-bomb maker and likes violence and blood. On top of that, he is a great dancer.
We will have to wait to find out what happens when he goes abroad and becomes a threat to the mafia bosses. Some people aren’t happy with producer S. Sashikanth of Y NOT Studios for releasing the film directly on Netflix, while theaters are functioning with 100 percent capacity, The Indian Express reported.
The film was originally slated to release last May but was indefinitely postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Filmmakers had said the film was made for the big-screen, claiming they have no plans to release it on OTT. It is unclear why Sashikanth decided to change his plan to release the film only in theaters.
Dhanush reportedly had a fallout with the director over releasing the film on Netflix. Aside from Dhanush, the film features Kalaiyarasan, Joju George, James Cosmo, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and more. You can watch the Jagame Thandhiram teaser below.
