Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton Are ‘Closer Than Ever’: Source

Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton’s relationship seems to be improving after the rifts which had separated the two.

According to the sources of Us Weekly, the two princesses had bad blood running between them for over a year. After Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, gave an explosive CBS interview in March 2021, the rift became more intense.

“Meghan and Kate are actually getting along really well and have been in touch more often,” the insider said. “Meghan and Kate’s relationship was never that close. And now they’re closer than ever and working on their relationship for the sake of the family.”

The Royal Wedding

In the CBS interview, Meghan got emotional when she narrated how Kate treated her before her wedding to Prince Harry. Meghan claimed that she was in tears after an argument with Kate, however, in the past Kate had claimed that it was the vice-versa. She was the one who was in tears.

“A few days before the wedding she was upset about flower girl dresses and it made me cry. It really hurt my feelings,” clarified Meghan.

Since the ”Suits star” had previously been divorced and was of American origin, Queen Elizabeth II was not happy with this proposal. Eventually, she reluctantly had agreed to the union, and Harry and Meghan got engaged in 2017.

Hence right from the beginning, there were tensions with Meghan’s inclusion in the Royal family. Since Kate was the elder daughter-in-law, her role was important in the Royal union.

However, Kate tried to work things out before the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan. “It was a really hard week of the wedding. And she was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologized. And she brought me flowers and a note, apologizing,” Meghan clarified.

The Tension between the Brothers

The ongoing tension between Prince Harry and his elder brother Prince William had made things difficult for Kate. The sources claim that Kate and Meghan did not speak for more than one year after the couple relocated to the US.

“There is real animosity that the brothers have toward one another, and that has spilled over to Meghan and Kate’s relationship, making it very hard for them to be friends or even friendly,” the source close to the Royal family mentioned.

The arrival of Meghan and Harry’s second child, daughter Lilibet, in June this year melted the hearts a bit. Her first name, Lilibet, is a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II as it was her nickname in her childhood. The middle name Diana was chosen after the late Princess of Wales. Prince Harry wanted to remember his late mother through the middle name of his daughter.

So now with the ice melting between the daughters-in-law of the Royal family, the world is waiting to see what happens next. This year, the lukewarm birthday wishes to Meghan which the Royal family had shared through the 24-hour disappearing Instagram posts had made the differences between the Royals obvious.
