John Wick 4: Played by Keanu Reeves, John Wick is one of the deadliest assassins in the realm of the John Wick franchise, with the third installment, John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum, being the most critically acclaimed and financially successful films of the popular series.
Considering the success garnered by the previously released films, it is hardly surprising that the franchise is slated to expand with John Wick: Chapter 4, continuing the adventures of the legendary hitman.
John Wick: Chapter 4 Release Date
John Wick: Chapter 4 is slated to release on May 21, 2022, nearly three years after the third installment in the series. Words on the street are that Chad Stahelski will return to helm the latest sequel, after co-directing the original John Wick alongside David Leitch. For John Wick: Chapter 2 and John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum, Stahelski adopted solo directing duties.
A Spin-Off Movie Inside John Wick Universe
There plans for a spin-off movie, video game, TV show prequel revolving around the Continental Hotel. Aside from that, there is a possibility that Charlize Theron, who bid goodbye to the Mad Max franchise earlier this year, will be seen in an Atomic Blonde crossover aside from this new sequel.
Dubbed as Ballerina, the John Wick spin-off movie was originally announced in July 2017 and jumped into action earlier this year when it was announced that Len Wiseman was roped in to direct it. Reeves and Stahelski will serve as producer and executive producer respectively.
Who Will Appear In John Wick: Chapter 4
While nothing is set in stone yet, it is highly likely that the John Wick: Chapter 4 will feature Reeves, who echoed Stahelski’s statement in May when he said he would gladly be involved in a fourth John Wick movie if the third installment turned out to be a hit. This was most definitely the case.
Moreover, Laurence Fishburne is expected to return to work on the latest sequel. Angelica Huston, Jason Mantzoukas, Asia Kate Dillion, John Leguizamo, Halle Berry, Lance Reddick, and Ian McShane will make the returns to the franchise. It is worth mentioning here that nobody has been officially signed on to appear in the impending sequel yet.
Future Of The John Wick Franchise
It will be interesting to see how far the John Wick franchise will go, especially since Stahelski is brutally cynical when it comes to the future of the title character.”People ask me this all the time, am I ending the movie for a cliff hanger? Is there a number four it’s headed for?,” Stahelski said.
“Keanu Reeves and I have never, from one to two, two to three, ever expected to do a sequel or a follow-up. John may survive all this s**t, but at the end of it, there’s no happy ending. He’s got nowhere to go,” he said. “Honestly, I challenge you right now. Here’s a question for you. How do you want me to end it?”
