Prince Harry has given the latest update on his much-awaited Netflix documentary dubbed Rising Phoenix, during a Zoom call.
Prince Harry joined a video call with athletes who graced the documentary with their presence including, Ntando Mahlangu, Jean-Baptiste Alaize, Bebe Vio, Matt Stutzman, and Tatyana McFadden. The Duke noted that the incredible strength these people show, despite a still raging pandemic and a slew of other things happening at the moment, “needs to be seen more.”
He said people need to talk more about their strength to try and remove stereotyping, as well as preconceptions. Prince Harry said he hopes that when people watch this film and say, “No matter how hard my life is, no matter how hard a day or a week can be, this what I aspire to, not just for me but for my family and all the loved ones around me.”
Prince Harry said he thinks the film has the element that can end up changing the world. “So well done and thank you very much,” he said.
Talking about how important sport is in people’s lives in a trailer for the documentary, Harry noted that there isn’t anything else in the world that can help a person get out of their darkest places than sports. He went on to say that lives are being changed in the stands.
The description of the documentary suggests it, “tells the extraordinary story of the Paralympic Games.”
“From the rubble of World War II to the third biggest sporting event on the planet, the Paralympics sparked a global movement which continues to change the way the world thinks about disability, diversity & human potential,” the description adds.
A spokesperson for Prince Harry said the Duke is proud to be associated with this film, which is a unique and powerful documentary that aims at changing people’s perspective towards disability while giving them a glimpse of the incredible story of the Paralympics.
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have signed a deal with Netflix to create feature films, documentaries, and various other shows. The Duke and the Duchess will create content that not only informs but also gives hope.
Last week, Netflix released Rising Phoenix, a documentary revolving around Paralympic Games. The founder of Invictus Games for wounded veterans, Prince Harry appears in this film.
