Fenty Beauty, a popular brand launched by Rihanna in 2017 has been asked to prove it has the required certification over its Mica procurement and sourcing, much to the outrage of netizens.
Fenty Beauty came under severe criticism after an NGO called LRO (Legal Rights Observatory) filed a complaint with the NCPCR (National Commission for Protection of Child Rights). According to LRO, Popstar Rihanna’s beauty brand does not have the required certification outlaw that the silicate mineral, Mica, used in its products is not sourced from mines located in Jharkhand.
LRO claims child laborers are made to work in dire conditions in the Jharkhand based mines, a report on the complaint states. As a result, Rihana has come under fire from Netizens around the world, with hashtag #BanFenty being used by people who were using her products but claim was unaware of this illegal activity.
A British Indian named Poonam Agate tweeted, So glad I no longer use #FentyBeauty of the products I HAVE used… it’s COMPLETE trash Woozy face I will NEVER support makeup brands for using mica or exploiting child slave labor… So much for being “vegan” and “cruelty-free” Yawning faceClown faceThinking face #ashy #basicbitchmakeup #boycottFenty”
Rihanna’s brand has been asked to prove it has the Supply chain clearance certification for the same. Moreover, some reports suggest that Fenty Beauty didn’t conduct mandatory audits as far as the Suppliers Code of Conduct under the Californian law is concerned. The aforesaid law deals with child abuse, slavery, and human trafficking.

@rihanna truly proves that popstars don’t have brains.
She’s neither a songwriter nor a producer meaning bulk of royalties from her catalogue don’t even go to her.
Most of her income comes from Fenty Beauty, her beauty line which sources its mica from Jharkhand.

@fentybeauty are y’all 100% #CrueltyFree ? @GavinNewsom they seem to be in violation of the California Suppliers Act by using blood mica sourced from illegal mines in Jharkhand, India. ?
